Non seulement les deux comp\u00e8res inscrivent avec brio ce genre paradoxal dans la g\u00e9ographie, l\u2019histoire et la culture am\u00e9ricaines, mais ils circulent avec aisance dans l\u2019ensemble du cin\u00e9ma am\u00e9ricain en multipliant les croisements f\u00e9conds, les rapprochements inattendus et stimulants. On y gagne des aper\u00e7us neufs sur Ford et Chaplin, la mani\u00e8re dont le cin\u00e9ma des ann\u00e9es 1970 r\u00e9investit des th\u00e9matiques \u00e9labor\u00e9es d\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1930, la g\u00e9n\u00e9alogie du road movie, dont le tandem aper\u00e7oit les prol\u00e9gom\u00e8nes jusque dans <em>le Magicien d\u2019Oz<\/em> et \u2014 grand moment de l\u2019entretien \u2014 les cartoons de Chuck Jones mettant en sc\u00e8ne Bip Bip et Coyote, vus comme la quintessence existentielle et th\u00e9orique du genre, au carrefour du western et de Samuel Beckett (!).
