Enseignes o\u00f9 voisinent le japonais et l\u2019anglais. Enseignes de boutiques, de caf\u00e9s, de bars, de restaurants \u2013 on sait l\u2019importance de la nourriture et de la boisson dans ses films. Elles occupent plusieurs fonctions : fonction narrative \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire (situer le lieu de l\u2019action) ; fonction qu\u2019on pourrait dire musicale de ponctuation entre les s\u00e9quences ; indice enfin, parmi d\u2019autres, de l\u2019occidentalisation du d\u00e9cor urbain apr\u00e8s la Deuxi\u00e8me Guerre mondiale, que les films d\u2019Ozu enregistrent en m\u00eame temps que les transformations de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 japonaise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Certaines de ces enseignes participent au syst\u00e8me de \u00ab th\u00e8mes et variations \u00bb du cin\u00e9aste. \u00c0 l\u2019instar des com\u00e9diens, des rituels domestiques et sociaux \u2013 repas, coucher, visites de voisinage, mariages, enterrements \u2013, des situations dramatiques, de
